Maintaining waterproofing for any roof penetrations

If there are any penetrations through the roof cladding client must be aware that it is absolutely critical to ensure that these penetrations are kept fully waterproofed at all times and allow for no possible water entry into the structure.  The QBCC and general construction industry consensus is that water entry into a structure is a very serious problem (the QBCC class it as a category 1 type defect) and it should be avoided at all costs.  This is because water can be extremely damaging to constructions materials in use, and can do so in a manner which is not overly noticeable until the damage has been done.  Examples of roof penetrations can include, but are not limited to: chimneys, skylights, dormer windows, air conditioning condensers, TV aerials, plumbing pipes, ‘Whirly Birds’, electrical and data cabling and satellite disks etc.
